The Missed Foundation is the only charity of its kind. Run by a founder with lived experience, and registered with the Australian Taxation Office and Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, Missed creates awareness for both missing individuals as well as the issue of missingness, and provides both practical and emotional support to those left behind.
Working directly with over 80 families, Missed humanises missing loved ones beyond their vital statistics, advocates for the needs of their families, and uses creativity and innovation to give the public, media and decision-makers a powerful insight into the financial, emotional and psychological impact of a long term disappearance.
Missed respects the fact that not every family appreciates the often inevitable public interest in their private lives. Accordingly, we do not disseminate information regarding a missing person without authority from their family, nor do we act on behalf of families that have not initiated contact with the organisation.
As well as our strong relationships within the Australian media landscape, we have established relationships with industry leaders, academics, police and forensic experts, and counterparts both here and abroad.
Loren's unwavering support really helps to keep the hope alive that one day I might find my brother again. The Missed Foundation has been such a blessing in my life.
It has been a privilege to witness the incredible and critical work Missed is doing in the missing persons space. I've been able to access support and educational material that was absolutely vital to the search I was involved in.
Words can’t describe how important having someone to guide us through such an unknown process, who to speak to and what to do to find our loved one is.
Missed has provided a positive energy and focus for me during my search. It aligns with my own morals and beliefs, that a missing person is more than a one-dimensional face on a poster.
We weren't able to get media attention until we started with Missed and now at least the public knows he’s missing.
Working with Missed has made us all feel like we are giving back to our community in a profound and powerful way.
