Matty Podcast

Podcasts are an excellent platform for loved ones of missing people to share their lived experience, broaden the narrative, and reclaim ownership of their stories — particularly those of high-profile cases that the media and public discourse can run away with. Hence the invaluable relationship we have with critically acclaimed podcast producers, Casefile Presents, and their anonymous host ‘Casey’.

Many of you will know about the disappearance of Matthew Leveson and the extraordinary lengths his family had to go to bring him home. In 2012, when he was still missing, Loren met his formidable parents Mark and Faye, and was absolutely awe-struck by their tenacity and determination.

In 2021, we spent two weeks with the remarkable Leveson family to record their 10-part story told in the Casefiles Presents podcast, Matty: The Levesons’ harrowing journey of love and injustice.

Over eight months, Casefile’s writers thoroughly researched the case to compile the script that was then sensitivity-checked and edited by Missed, then sent to the family for their ultimate approval. Matty was released on the 15th anniversary of his disappearance, to an enormous response.

The podcast was a huge success gaining over 4 million listeners and sitting on top of Spotify’s Australia Top Podcasts chart for a number of weeks, as well as making it to the top 10 in the US, Canada and New Zealand.

Most importantly, Mark and Faye were given the space and time to tell their own story in what they consider a tribute to their kind, caring, fun-loving son, Matty, and they were thrilled by the unprecedented support they received from listeners all around the world.
