Missed in Motion is a choose-your-own-adventure event that invites people to move—whether that’s running, walking, cycling, swimming or any activity that suits you—in support of Australians impacted by the disappearance of a loved one.
Free to participate, and without geographical or mobility barriers, Missed in Motion was launched for National Missing Persons Week 2025, and firmly established itself as an annual event. See the Raisely page here.
In 2025, over 200 people participated in Missed in Motion, in the form of everything from walking, running and swimming, to skipping, drumming, pickleball, ten pin bowling, rollerblading, kickboxing, family bushwalks and much more.
There were more than 10 real-world events held across Australia (and some virtual events with participants in Germany, Belgium and Denmark) in honour of long-term missing loved ones.
Thanks to its flexibility and accessibility, Missed in Motion reached audiences with a broad range of demographics, and through organic media exposure reached millions of people.
Missed in Motion gave people an opportunity to come together with family, friends and communities, and do something positive and meaningful during the most important (and often hardest) week of the year for our community.
With or without lived experience of ambiguous loss, participants were able to make the event their own, embarking on a broad range of ambitious, symbolic, and fun challenges to honour those who are missed and demonstrate support and solidarity for those left behind.
Across more than 700 individual donations, participants helped raise a remarkable $60,516, solidifying the initiative as an annual event.
