Run Melbourne

Run Melbourne

Run Melbourne was the first annual fundraiser for The Missed Foundation. Our Founder and CEO, Loren, and her brother Dan had registered to participate in Run Melbourne on 17 July 2011, to raise funds for Lifeline. The last thing Dan said to Loren was that he would see her there. He disappeared on 15 July 2011.

In 2012, on the anniversary of his disappearance, Loren and her family ran together and raised another $7250 for Lifeline. The following January, the Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN, what The Missed Foundation was formerly known as) was established, so for Run Melbourne 2013, fundraising efforts were directed towards MPAN.

Families in our network travelled from various parts of the state and country to participate in this fundraising event every year for the first five years of the charity. Over the nearly five years that Dan was missing, and across the collective Run Melbourne events, more than $100,000 was raised.

In 2021, marking the 10th anniversary of Dan’s disappearance, Loren registered for Run Melbourne to run 10km and raise $10,000 to commemorate 10 years. 10 for Dan ended up raising over $40,000, even though the run itself looked a little different due to a snap lockdown…!
