The media plays an integral role within the context of missing persons as it can be a powerful tool for raising awareness. However it’s equally important that the families and friends of missing loved ones are supported through the process, since they’re often in a state of shock, a vulnerable position, and without previous experience of dealing with journalists.
In 2024, we’re pleased to have commenced working on the creation of media guidelines via a collaboration with Everymind and Associate Professor Sarah Wayland.

Missed provides guidance for families who wish to liaise with the media, and gives specific and general commentary to the media upon request.
