Victoria Street Mural

When media attention, public interest and police resources dwindle, fade or altogether stop, it’s vital families of long-term missing loved ones are shown that they haven’t been forgotten and people do still care (for both them, and their missing person).

We know first-hand that demonstrations of compassion by complete strangers can be the most powerful, and even more so when their efforts generate public, real-world awareness.

In March 2025, prolific Melbourne street artist Heesco (who we met in 2017 as part of our Unmissables project) took it upon himself to ask the landlord of his studio if he could invite local artists to paint murals of missing Victorians on the exterior of his prominently located building.

Seven artists painted seven murals — for Bung Siriboon, Lorrin Whitehead, Tej Chitnis, Owen Redman, Esteban Do Santos, Marcia Ryan and Warren Meyer.

Located at 251 Victoria Street in Abbotsford, right off Melbourne’s busy Hoddle Street, an endless stream of tram and train commuters, drivers and pedestrians are remembering (or realising) that missing loved ones are dearly missed, and that their families and friends need continued support long after the media’s moved on and the police have exhausted their resources. See this Nine news piece featuring Bung’s mural.

Huge thanks to Heesco and all the artists donating their time and talent, landlord Simon, Dulux and Duralift, and — most importantly — the families putting their trust into this initiative.
