Easey Street Breakthrough Raises Hopes in Another Cold Case Murder Mystery

The Age, 11 October 2024

Loren O’Keeffe, founder and CEO of The Missed Foundation, spoke to The Age about renewed hope in the cold case of Julie Garciacelay, who vanished nearly 50 years ago from her North Melbourne apartment. Following developments in the Easey Street murders, O’Keeffe, who understands the pain of ambiguous loss, is helping Julie’s mother, Ruth, honour her daughter’s memory. The Missed Foundation is assisting with the placement of a memorial plaque for Julie at St John’s Lutheran Church in Southgate, Melbourne. The plaque, along with a tree planting, will be laid by Pastor James Winderlich and livestreamed for Ruth, now 92, as she continues to search for answers.
