For NMPW 2023, Missed launched a world-first training tool to help people better understand the experience of living with ambiguous loss.
Despite the significant increase in the number of Australians adversely affected by this issue, there are currently no funded services available in Australia to provide support for those impacted by a long-term disappearance. This masterclass, like all of our initiatives, aims to fill this gap and help thousands of Australians as they navigate this difficult journey.
Ambiguous Loss Masterclass helps everyone associated with or supporting families of long-term missing loved ones (eg. police, search and rescue volunteers, the media, counsellors, friends and colleagues) to be better informed about the ways in which this complex grief shows up in people’s lives when someone is missing.
This world-first initiative provides vital professional and personal development to those who work with, or are close to, loved ones of missing people.
The second component of the masterclass offers a deeper dive into the theories and concepts, and includes a simulated counselling session.
